Rice production for the 2021/22 season would rise by almost 1%, compared to the previous period. The USDA estimate is 509.9 million tons; On the other hand, during the report of the 2020/21 campaign, 507.2 million tons were estimated. Among the main rice producers, the participation of China (148.9 million tons), India (125 million tons), Bangladesh (35.5 million tons), Indonesia (35.4 million tons), and Vietnam (27.2 million tons), to name the top five markets. As for world cereal stocks, the USDA forecasts a decrease, since it would go from 186.5 to 186 million tons. This scenario would occur mainly due to the significant reductions in Sri Lanka and India. Likewise, the January report of the international organization indicates that world trade would increase in a general way, with stronger exports from India and greater imports from Mali, Ivory Coast, and Sri Lanka.
