After more than 4 months from the date of sowing, the DK 6919S maize variety, also known as genetically modified maize, has brought about high efficiency to the people of Nghi Xuan (Ha Tinh). Unlike traditional corn varieties, GM corn is easy to grow, easy to care for and resistant to pests and diseases that are a frequent concern of corn growers. After 3 years of trial planting, the yield of this year's winter-spring maize crop in Nghi Xuan reached nearly 6 tons/ha, the output is estimated at over 5,000 tons. Compared to 2021, the yield of this year's winter-spring crop is not higher due to adverse weather when the localities start sowing. However, the selling price of 10,000/kg (corn kernels, used as food) is much higher than 7,000 VND/kg in 2021, so people are very excited.
