In W24 in the mandarin landscape, Chilean mandarins have arrived in the US, signaling the start of Bee Sweet Citrus' summer import program, which includes Chilean lemons and Navel oranges to meet year-round demand for citrus. In early May 2023, Europe experienced a notable shortage of mandarins caused by Spain's early harvest and Morocco's smaller harvest. It created an empty market that was filled by South African mandarins, as they began harvesting and exporting three weeks earlier than usual. In addition, Olympic Fruit is seeing an increase in market demand due to the consolidation of retailers and growers. However, they also face challenges such as oversupply and shortages of mandarins during the summer season. In Spain, citrus production in the province of Almeria will decrease by 7.6% this season. Almeria contributes to 10% of the total citrus production in the region of Andalusia, with mandarins accounting for 24% of the citrus produced in Almeria.
