In Ukraine, as of January 1, the excise tax on fuel has increased. From January 1, 2026, the excise tax rate on motor fuel for agricultural producers in Ukraine has increased to €253.8 per 1000 liters – €38.1 more than in 2025, when it was €215.7 per 1000 liters. The increase is provided for by the norms of the law on the implementation of European excise requirements, adopted by the parliament and signed by the president, reports UkrAgroConsult. The increase in the excise tax is part of the planned transition to European minimum rates, the goal of which is to gradually align Ukrainian tax rules with EU rules. For example, in Germany, the excise tax on fuel is significantly higher and exceeds €650 per 1000 liters, in Poland it is around €276, and in Slovakia it is over €550.
