In W19 in the grape landscape, in Egypt, there is an intense competition between farmers at the beginning of its grape season. Investor’s interest in the industry has increased in 2023, leading to an increase in acreage and volumes produced. Due to the quality of the product and competition from other countries of origin, Egypt has a variety of grape types. Egypt benefits financially from its strategic location at the meeting point of two continents.

Table grapes were the top exports in Peru, and it was forecasted that sales of grapes in the 2023/24 season could increase by 5%. The Red Globe variety lost its advantage to the white seedless Sweet Globe in 2022/23 as Sweet Globe became the most exported grape variety from Peru. Additionally, Sweet Globe clocked in at 16.1M cartons and Red Globe at 14.1M cartons. Traditional seedless varieties such as Flame, Sugraone, and Crimson had lower yields per hectare, so Red Globe had that position in Peru. Further, Peruvian grapes reach 53 countries already, and five more which are Chile, Israel, the Philippines, Australia and South Africa could be added if negotiations with the National Agrarian Health Service are successful. At the end of March 2023, the country began exporting grapes to Japan, which enjoys duty-free status due to the Economic Association Agreement between Peru and Japan.

Chilean table grapes have become increasingly popular in China, with 59.415M cartons exported to the world in 2023. As of W17, new grape varieties accounted for 57% of the total export volume, while traditional varieties comprised 43%. Pagoda and Freshippo have imported 160K-180K cartons of Chilean table grapes this season, and Freshippo's sales have increased by 120% since March 2023, and the export volume has reached 56,717MT. In Brazil, BRS Vitória grape producers in the So Francisco Valley (PE/BA) face marketing difficulties due to oversupply, moisture, and low prices. The average sale of packaged seedless black was USD 1.37/kg (BRL 6.70/kg), a 3.40% decrease compared to W18, and the high supply should remain until the end of May 2023.

Lastly, the Spanish grape season in 2023 is expected to have good quality and quantity, but the weather in W20 will have a significant impact on the outcome. The practice of growing grapes without seeds has become more popular in recent years, with seedless cultivars gradually taking over the entire region.
