In W24 in the chicken-egg landscape, on Monday, June 12, the average price of chicken eggs in Indonesia was USD 2.03/kg. This increase was in line with the rising prices of broiler chickens and corn used for animal feed. Despite the price increase, the egg supply remained stable. In Thailand, egg prices showed an upward trend in W24. No. 0 eggs saw a 3.47% WoW increase to USD 4.18 per carton of 30 eggs. Turkey experienced a 3.6% YoY increase in chicken egg production in April, reaching 1.65 billion units. However, there was a 4.7% MoM decline from March's production of 1.72 billion units. Overall, chicken egg production in the January-April period increased by 3.8% compared to the same period in 2022. Lastly, in the Netherlands, LTO/NOP has long been advocating for the abolition of the confinement obligation at a regional level. The lack of availability of free-range eggs is causing significant consequences for long-term trade, as buyers prefer suppliers who can provide all types of eggs. The Dutch sector is still unable to supply free-range eggs due to the ongoing confinement obligation. Consequently, poultry farmers who have invested in this socially beneficial method of chicken keeping are the ones suffering as victims.
