Brazil: Poultry Meat Production in Brazil Should Rise by 1.5% In 2022 and 2% In 2023 (Dec 19)
The Brazilian Association of Animal Proteins (ABPA) projected that chicken meat production in the country should reach up to 14.5M tons in 2022, 1.5% higher than in 2021, where production reached 14.329M tons. The projected volume for 2023 could reach up to 14.750M tons, 2% higher than in 2022.

Brazil is close to ending another year with a positive balance in terms of chicken exports to the Arab countries. Some of the destinations that stood out in the purchase of Brazilian protein in 2022 are the United Arab Emirates, which remains in the lead, but Singapore and Qatar also stood out in this commercial relationship with Brazil. Remaining the largest buyer of Brazilian halal chicken, the United Arab Emirates increased revenue from imports of the product by 45% between January and November 2022, compared to the same period in 2021.
Ethiopia: Ethiopian Meat Exports Earned USD 41M in the Last 5 Months of the 2022 Season (Dec 20)
The Ethiopian Agricultural Authority (EAA) announced that over USD 41M was earned from 5.9K MT of meat products (beef, lamb, and chicken) exported during the last five months of the 2022 season. The Authority indicated that it is working to supply 28K MT of meat products to the foreign market in the 2022 fiscal year with the target of collecting more than USD 150M in the process. Ethiopia exports meat products primarily to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, but other efforts are being made to send meat products to China, Indonesia, and European countries.

Netherlands: Income Differences Between Poultry Farms Increased Sharply (Dec 19)
Income differences between poultry farms increased sharply in the Netherlands, these differences amount to more than USD 334K (EUR 313K) for laying hen farms and more than USD 246K (EUR 230K) for broiler farms. Prices for industrial eggs will increase by 91% in 2022. Prices for free-range eggs increased by 66% and for free-range eggs by 41%.

The laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) confirmed the presence of the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus in the animals of a breeding turkey farm in Hajdú-Bihar County, with more than 25K individuals. With this, another county became infected in the 2022 autumn epidemic. Protection and monitoring zones have been designated, and partner countries have also been notified of the outbreak.

South Korea: Hadong Duck Farm Reports AI Suspected Axis (Dec 22)
Suspected Avian Influenza (AI) occurred at a duck farm in Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do. Gyeongsangnam-do announced that the H5 type antigen was detected as a result of an AI test after receiving a report of mortality at a meat duck farm in Okjong-myeon, Hadong-gun on the 21st. If it is confirmed as a highly pathogenic AI, it will be the second outbreak in the winter season following Jinju.

Turkey: 2022 Egg Tracking Report Has Been Published (Dec 20)
Turkey is working to remove the cage system where chickens raised for their eggs are kept and has published the 2022 Egg Tracking Report. In the report, 51 of 92 brands promised they would not use eggs obtained from the cage system.
