Thai cassava prices began to falter towards the second half of the year and fell significantly in mid-August (0.27 USD/KG), from its stable status in the first half of 2021. After exports fell in 2019, Thailand diverted more cassava to China with an increase of +32% YoY in 2020, alongside intensive imports from Cambodia. Given the low price of cassava in the domestic market, Thailand has tightened import requirements from abroad in efforts to stabilize prices domestically.
