Cumin prices in India continued to soar in the first week of 2023 due to unfavorable weather and low inventories. In Gujarat province, where most of India's cumin is grown, production was negatively impacted by hot weather throughout November and December, which is forecast to reduce production by as much as 40% and also delay the harvest. Wholesale cumin prices rocketed to a record USD 3.86/kg, more than double the price of three months ago, and 93% higher YoY.
