Turkey produces around 600 MT of crayfish annually. In the lake of Egirdir, in Isparta region, the crayfish quota has been increased from 300 MT to 500 MT per year.
The fishing quota is determined by the regional directorate of Forestry and Agriculture. The fishing quota attempts to preserve the crayfish population in the lake and also to dissuade poachers.
Turkey also exports around 300 KMT of crayfish mainly to Sweden and Russia.
