"They want to raise the Argentine cost": Sturzennegger targets Congress for obstructing SMEs

In a recent post on his X account, the Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation, Federico Sturzennegger, issued a stern warning: Kirchnerism intends to raise the so-called "Argentine cost" by repealing Decree 273/2025, which allows the importation of used machinery. According to the minister, this policy would reverse a key benefit for SMEs and industrial sectors that can now access imported equipment at a lower price. "They want to increase the 'Argentine cost' for all industries in the country... They want our SMEs to be unable to do what I did: double production with used machinery," wrote Sturzennegger. To illustrate, he recounts the case of a Mar del Plata SME that needed to double its capacity and found a used Australian machine for 250,000 USD instead of a new one for 1.5 million.
