On April 28, a government decree came into force, according to which until January 1, 2021, genetically modified fodder soy and meal from it are not subject to state registration.
According to the Oil and Fat Union, the facilitation of imports will unbalance the existing market, lead to a halt in investment projects and the loss of export potential.
In recent years, for the import of soybean meal into Russia, it was necessary to obtain state registration. Since it was not easy to go through the procedure, this impeded the import of products. This has had a positive effect on the industry.
Opening the borders for imported soybean meal, Russian processing enterprises are hit because they will not be able to offer a competitive price in the domestic market compared to the imported alternative.
