Spain allocates 660,000 euros to purchase vaccines against nodular dermatosis in cattle.

As of today, 18 outbreaks have been detected; all of them in the province of Girona. The Government will invest 660,000 euros in the acquisition of vaccines against nodular dermatosis that affects cattle, after the Council of Ministers took note of the declaration of emergency for the necessary health measures to address this virus. In a statement, the Government recalled that on October 3, 2025, the first detection of this disease was confirmed in a heifer rearing farm in Castelló d'Empúries (Girona). As of today, 18 outbreaks have been detected; all of them in the province of Girona. The official veterinary services of the autonomous communities are responsible for animal health and, in constant contact with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, can initiate the epidemiological investigation to try to identify the origin of the infection and the contacts at risk, among other things.
