Following the export ban of breeding lobster from Indonesia, a number of suppliers are currently pushing the government to tighten the supervision of this ban in practice. Considering that breeding lobster is a highly strategic commodity, these suppliers have expressed their concern about the possibility of efforts made to bypass the system and ship the commodity overseas illegally. Hence, education about the background of this ban needs to be constantly communicated to the stakeholders in the industry. The passing of this ban was predicated by the effort to keep the sustainability of the lobster business in Indonesia as the breeding lobster is the key to keep the supply stable in the long run.
