The Chinese government has suspended poultry meat import from a plant at Mato Grosso do Sul (Bello Alimentos/Frango Bello) and from another plant in Goias (São Salvador Alimentos/Super Frngo), according to a statement issued by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), published on their website 31 January. The suspension of trade started on 31 January 2022, and they do not inform when or if they will ever happen again, nor informed the reason for the suspension.
The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture confirms the suspension of imports from those two Brazilian plants. However, it stated that their technical staff disagrees with the decision adopted by the sanitary authority of China, which insists that Brazil present technical information to try to reverse the suspension to GACC.
In December, China suspended poultry meat imports from BRF in Marau - the Rio Grande do Sul. In August, the country also suspended imports of pork, and poultry meat of the BRF unit in Lucas do Rio Verde – Mato Grosso do Sul. China has been suspending, since 2020, imports of meat processing plants from many countries. The reason would be greater sanitary restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
