Chinese ginger scarce in EU market

Due to high sea freight rates out of China, Chinese ginger has been scarce from the EU market. This has opened up the opportunity for Brazilian and Peruvian ginger to enter the EU market in larger volumes than ever before. However, as a result of these excess volumes of Brazilian ginger in the EU market place, Brazilian ginger has been losing its historically premium reputation for best quality and high prices.
