Within the scope of control and containment measures for African Swine Fever (ASF), specific hunting measures were activated in the Low Risk Zone infected, located between 10 and 20 kilometers around the detected focus. On February 4th, the first of two scheduled meetings took place with hunting associations affected by ASF in this area in Castellar del Vallès. The meeting was attended by the Deputy General Director of Hunting and Fishing of the Government of Catalonia, Josep Maria López, as well as technicians from the Territorial Services of Barcelona. The objective of the meeting was to begin organizing weekend drives to reduce the wild boar population. During the meeting, the protocol for the collection of samples from culled animals was explained in detail. These samples will be analyzed to ensure proper monitoring of the health of the wild boars.
