Ethiopia is importing 2 million quintals of sugar from abroad to meet the demand of the Ethiopian New Year. According to Ethiopian Sugar Corporation, the country's annual demand for sugar currently stands at 7.5 million quintals, and local production alone is not enough to meet the demand.
