Increased U.S. Demand for Peruvian Canned Bell Pepper

The United States increased its demand for Peruvian canned bell pepper due to a price increase for Turkish canned bell pepper. The largest Peruvian manufacturers of canned bell peppers are closing contracts with a 15% YoY increase in price. The current FOB price for a box of 6/#10s stands at USD 23.50 at Paita port, PE. The increase in prices is not only attributed to the higher demand but also the increasing production costs due to the rising price of urea and packing supplies like cartons and cans.
