Kenyan pineapple season for the year 2021/22 is set to begin at the end of July, to run until April with slight dip in October. Considering that seasonality normally runs from July to April, there is no notable difference. As Kenya is one of the major tropical countries of supplying pineapples in the agricultural market, it has developed a large-scale production under modernized agriculture in the Central region of Kenya. The main variety of pineapple produced in Kenya is Smooth Cayenne which represents 8 out of every 10 pineapples produced in the country, but MD2 has become a new big rise due to its high brix/sweetness. In regards to this, the major producer of pineapples, Del Monte Kenya, has been phasing out Smootj cayenne in favor of MD2 variety.
