Rio, 24/10/2025 - The spending of Brazilian families on food and beverages declined in October for the fifth consecutive month. The Food and beverages group went from a reduction of 0.35% in September to a decline of 0.02% in October, contributing 0.00 percentage point to the 0.18% rate recorded by the National Consumer Prices Index Broad 15 (IPCA-15) this month, according to data released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
Food at home decreased by 0.10% in October. Onions (-7.65%), chicken eggs (-3.01%), rice (-1.37%), and long-life milk (-1.00%) became cheaper. On the other hand, there were increases in soybean oil (4.25%) and fruits (2.07%).
Food away from home increased by 0.19%. Meals outside the home went up by 0.06%, and snacks advanced by 0.42%.
