Due to the lack of own producers, Russian poultry companies are forced to purchase hatching eggs abroad. According to poultry farmers, there is a shortage of hatching eggs, and prices have increased significantly compared to last year: in September 2020, one egg cost 16-17 RUB. In February, its cost almost doubled to 30 RUB a piece. The price rise is associated with outbreaks of avian flu in some countries and higher feed and lysine prices. Against this background, poultry factories, which provide 20% of the Russian poultry meat market, may soon reduce their output.
