Following a 47% growth in 2024, fish surimi production in 2025 is expected to increase by 25% year-on-year to 89,000 tons. In the Russian seafood market, fish surimi is one of the few categories where production volume and value have increased simultaneously. Since 2020, the industry has expanded rapidly, and within just five years, Russia has become one of the world's leading fish surimi producers, accounting for approximately 10% of the global market share. In 2025, domestic consumption of fish surimi in Russia is expected to account for about 24% of its total production, or approximately 21,000 tons, with the remainder being exported. The position of Russian pollock surimi in the Asian market continues to be consolidated, with industry estimates showing its market share at about 50% in South Korea and about 25% in Japan. In 2025, major fish surimi producers in Russia are all expected to achieve significant growth. Fish surimi production at the Russian Far East Fisheries Company (RRPK) surged by 43.5% to 60,400 tons; Hydrostroy Group's production is expected to be around 25,500 tons in 2025.
