Early May-24 Fish Landings Boosted Revenue in Northern Spain

In early May-24, notable fish landings were recorded in the north of Spain. In Gipuzkoa, 2.94 million units of anchovy were landed for USD 1.69 each, while Bizkaia recorded 3.80 million units at USD 1.60 each. Additionally, Gipuzkoa saw a catch of 5.60 million units of mackerel at USD 1.37 each, and Bizkaia reported 3.55 million units at USD 1.57 each. By May 1st, a total of 6.74 million units of anchovy were unloaded at an average price of USD 1.64 each, generating USD 4.60 million in revenue. The anchovy quota stands at 31.61 million units, with 11.4 million units caught in the Cantabrian Sea, representing 36% of the state quota. Anchovy is a globally renowned and highly commercialized species in Spanish fishing.
