The ongoing catching ban period for Blue Swimming Crab in Bahrain has affected the supply in Southeast Asian markets like Taiwan and Thailand. There is high demand for the big-sized crabs (200+ grams) as the buyers remain over-stocked for the smaller sizes.
Moreover, the crab landing in Tunisia has also been adversely affected by windy weather conditions and Ramadan season in Mar-24 and Apr-24. Since March, most landings have been of smaller sizes. Due to this shortage of big-size crabs, the buyers are unable to place orders, and the supply is increasing with suppliers.
The supply conditions are expected to improve on May-24 after the ban period ends in Bahrain. The market can expect a temporary price drop from Tunisia until the landing pattern improves for the bigger sizes.
