To solve the crisis of the eggs shortage, the Council of Agriculture launched a subsidy policy. It announced that eggs would be imported from the United States, Australia, and Japan, to make up for the gap. However, as Japan has been listed as an avian flu epidemic area by Taiwan since the end of 2020, poultry and eggs have been banned until today. The Bureau of Prevention and Inspection explained that, according to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) regulations, eggs could be imported under conditions before 31 March 2022.
