The Vilnius District Court (Lithuania) convicted members of an organized criminal group for their involvement in a fraudulent scheme related to EU funds and national funds intended for young farmers, the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) reported. This decision marks the end of the proceedings against 26 individuals involved in a large-scale fraud scheme. Four organizers were found guilty and fined a total of 150,000 euros. In addition, 22 participants in the scheme pleaded guilty and fully repaid the damage to the EU and Lithuanian budgets, amounting to approximately 500,000 euros. The court granted them conditional release from criminal liability within a simplified criminal proceeding. Furthermore, 34,000 euros were confiscated from the defendants, and they were ordered to pay 37,000 euros to the Victims of Crime Fund.
