Following the revision of regulation on lobster seeds in Indonesia, exporters can now continue exporting this commodity overseas. The government is allowing national exporters to export lobster seed up to 40 MT/year. Previously, the rule prohibited exporters from shipping lobster seed out of Indonesia. This was seen as a very strict regulation that hurt some exporters, who depended upon the export of lobster seeds to meet their annual sales quota. This new regulation is viewed by the national exporters association as a win-win solution for the exporters and the government, as the exporters can respond to overseas buyer demand while the government can ensure the supply of lobster in the domestic market and ensure the sustainability of the lobster industry in the long run.
