Some Indonesian importers predict that wheat consumption locally will double in the next 10 to 15 years. Currently, Indonesian wheat imports are still tightly controlled by the government with a quota system, permits, and import allocations. The increasing consumption will be used for both human consumption and animal feed production. Currently, wheat imported for human consumption holds a 0% import duty, while wheat used for feed is subject to a 5% import duty.
