Grapefruit Prices Soar High in South Africa

Published 2021년 11월 16일
The wholesale price of grapefruit increased +160.19% YoY in South Africa, more than doubling to 0.56 USD/KG. A sudden surge that occurred at the beginning of the year only lasted for a short time, as prices actually dropped further towards the middle of the year. South Africa is one of the main grapefruit exporters, which generally supplies this commodity to Europe and Asia, whose export value has been quite stable in the last two years. However, if prices continue to rise, South Africa must be ready to compete since consumers will surely compare the price of grapefruit from other markets.
