Grapefruit Prices in South Africa Lower than 2021 Due to Oversupply

The wholesale price of grapefruit in South Africa was USD 1.19/kg in W3 March 2022 at the start of the season, after which it steadily decreased to its current level of USD 0.39/kg in W2 June 2022. During the 2022 season, the grapefruit price has been consistently lower compared to the 2021 season. The primary reason for the lower price in the 2022 season is an oversupply in the domestic market due to lower export volumes to Russia and China.
