Organic walnut prices in France are finding support and have increased by 11% month-on-month, reaching USD 6.33/kg in mid-June. In contrast, conventional walnut prices are decreasing. Despite a surplus of walnuts globally and decreased consumption due to higher living costs, certain households that prioritize healthy diets and sustainability are helping to maintain prices. However, walnut production in France is facing challenges due to low rainfall, particularly in regions like Grenoble, which have only received 60-80% of the normal rainfall in the past three months. Organic walnuts, which are mostly rainfed, are especially vulnerable to these conditions.
