South Africa’s Frozen Vegetable Market Faced 97.68% MoM Price Hike in October 2023

In W2 of Oct-23, the wholesale price of frozen mixed vegetables in South Africa surged by 12.21% compared to the previous week, reaching USD 5.97/kg. The increase was even more substantial on a monthly basis, with a 97.68% rise from USD 3.02 in the second week of September 2023. This price hike can be attributed to supply and quality issues with frozen mixed vegetables from Europe, notably Belgium. Adverse weather conditions in major European vegetable-producing countries like Spain and Italy significantly impacted the volume and quality of raw materials needed for frozen mixtures.
