Limited Sunflower Seed Supply in Russia and Ukraine Boosts Prices

The wholesale price of sunflower seeds in Russia rose +48.5% YoY to 1.75 USD/KG in W5 October 2021. The price increase also occurred in the Ukrainian market by +32.4% YoY to 0.69 USD/KG at the same time. Not only the world's top sunflower seed producing countries, both countries also rely on sunflower seeds imports from major exporters. In 2020, amid the decline of the global imports value in both countries, the imports value from Spain rose. In addition, the limited supply in both markets this year is likely to make imports from Spain increase.
