With domestic prices soaring caused by supply shortages due to a long rainy season and typhoons, South Korea is considering switching to imported sesame seeds, but it is worth noting that the country also saw its domestic agricultural products before others. The wholesale price of high-quality sesame seeds on Soul Market is soaring higher than the imported (medium quality) sesame seeds from China. Original sesame seeds (high quality) increased +118.25%, while imported seeds from China only grew +36.78%. The original sesame seed prices in South Korea jumped to 28.80 USD per KG, doubling from the previous year.
