Pork Imports from Vietnam Expands Further since the US Tariff Reduction

Vietnam is one of the main pork-consuming countries worldwide whose facing an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF). Since domestic production has decreased, supply is running low, and skyrocketing pork prices have also been a factor for the country to temporarily reduce tariffs from 15 percent to 10 percent for US frozen pork products around July-December 2020 period. An increase of more than 90% of its value last year made the US set a record high in 2020 valued at 42.41M USD. US convenience to export frozen pork can indirectly threaten the sustainability of domestic products.
