The Flor de Cardon Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from the Tolombon district of Salta, the northernmost winemaking province of Argentina. Located just south of the town of Cafayate, Estancia Los Cardones is located at 5,700’ elevation, high on the eastern slope of the Valle de Calchaquies. Elaboration in a conical steel tank with 10 days of cold film maceration at 7 C. Fermentation with natural yeast at a maximum temperature of 22 C for 8 days. Pumps of the hat once a day. Post fermentation maceration for 3 days. 10 months in third-use French oak barrels. Currant, lemon-zest, peppercorn, cocoa and gravel aromas. It’s medium-bodied with sleek, fine tannins and fresh acidity. Flavorful and focused. Drink or hold. A red wine with a fresh character, with notes of flowers and herbs.
Black fruit flavors, floral and spicy aromas. Broad berry and cassis aromas are earthy and typical of quality Malbec. The plump, well-built palate deals blackberry, plum and cassis flavors that finish with length and punch. At an altitude of 1,700 meters, in Tolombón, just south of the city of Cafayate, the malbec vineyards for this Anko were planted about 15 years ago on gray flagstone soils (somewhat similar to slate) and sand. It is a desert under the intense sun of the north, but it can produce vibrant, juicy and fresh wines like this red. Here there is liveliness, acidity and juice. To revive the summer.
Floral aromas, mainly jasmine. Citrus profile in the company of a natural acidity that gives it a bright and clean finish.
