The global supply of ginger is scarce while demand remains high. In particular, Chinese ginger production and exports decreased significantly decreased this year due to the COVID pandemic. Also, the export of ginger from Peru was interrupted due to a curfew affecting harvest and processing. In contrast, the demand for ginger in the European market is at a high level, especially from markets such as Germany and the Netherlands, where the demand increased by about 20% over the same period last year as consumers are looking to consume healthy products such as ginger. The price of Chinese organic ginger sold in Germany is currently 2.5 - 2.8 EUR / kg, while ordinary ginger costs 1.7 - 1.9 EUR / kg.
