The nordic feed market is experiencing a sudden surge in the fishmeal demand, as a the result of the COVID-19 pandemic complications.
After Mattilsynet set a permit for the long-term ban of the product couple of weeks ago, as the supply of amino acid content feed is cutting short, the chinese market announced an import allowance of fishmeal and oils. According to the Norwegian Govt., discussions with China have been going since 2016-17 in order to restore this market and its trade flows, closed since 2011.
Now 27 Norwegian companies have export permissions to China. Approval takes immediate effect, and it remains valid for five years. Company without permission can still apply CNCA for accreditation.
Norway is responsible to have exported 115 thousand metric tons of non-human consumption fishmeal and fish oils for different applications in 2019.
