Cabbage producers in Jeju and Muan, South Jeolla Province, have initiated the disposal of cabbage from 80,000 pyeong of their own fields, but the price of cabbage in Jeju has not been recovering. In response, the Jeju Agricultural Cooperative is launching a consumer promotion campaign. According to the Jeju Agricultural Product Supply and Demand Management Center, the average price of 8 kg of Jeju cabbage at Garak Market last August was 2,816 won. This represents a 20.8% decrease compared to Jeonju, a 31.7% decrease compared to the previous month, a 75.4% decrease compared to the same month last year, and a 71.7% decrease compared to the same month in a typical year. To help Jeju cabbage farmers, the Central Agricultural Cooperative Federation Jeju Branch implemented a consumer promotion campaign for its staff from last month 18th to the beginning of this month. Additionally, they have carried out initiatives such as a cabbage salad sharing campaign on the way to work and expanding the menu of Jeju agricultural products in company cafeterias.
