Shutdown of major sugar mill causes fear of shortages

The decision to close the operations of the Perlis state Sugar Mill which has been operating since 1974 in Malaysia is feared to cause a decline in sugar stocks in Malaysia. Perlis is already known as the state of sugar supplier in Malaysia, with the closure of the plant also feared to have an impact on the Perlis economy.
