Alto Uruguay & Sertão are accessing better winter options

There was an increase in the winter area crops in Uruguay to 32,050 hectares this season, an improvement of +11% in opposition to the previous year.

Such area extension is due to the price of wheat, which is favorable this year, being sold at R$ 55 a bag in Brazil. The cost of production is estimated at 44 bags according to Embrapa, with a value of R$ 55 would give around R$ 2400 per hectare.

It is notable that the region's average productivity last year, which was a good year, was 55 bags per hectare. Many producers are accessing good technology resources in their crop and are getting an average of 70 bags per hectare.

The municipality of Sertão stands out in the region in winter crops, as it plants more than 5,000 hectares of wheat, 2,000 hectares of barley and 5,000 hectares of oats.
