Because of its distinct flavor, the indigenous shrimp type has potential in the global market. They argue that it is necessary to ensure global standards in order to capitalize on opportunities. At a major hotel, the Bangladesh Shrimp and Fish Foundation held an event with partner organizations titled "Positioning Bangladesh Black Tiger Shrimp as Premium Natural Tiger Shrimp in the International Market." For a satisfactory result, the speakers recommend using enhanced and broad procedures in black tiger growing. According to Syed Mahmudul Huq, head of the foundation, black tiger is in high demand at global chain marketplaces like Walmart because of its size, flavor, and color. According to the foundation's estimates, Bangladesh exports only 2.0% of the global market for frozen shrimp. According to EPB data, shrimp exports brought in USD 361 million in fiscal year (FY) 2018-19, USD 332 million in FY 2020, and USD 320 million in FY 2021. Even a decade ago, Bangladesh had 110 frozen-fish companies, making it the second-largest export-oriented business in the country. However, the number has dropped to as much as 30 to 40.
