Brazil usually imports around 3% of Chilean production and the main importer of Chilean cherries is China. However, due to the reduced air freight availability and increased prices, China didn't import as much as Chilean growers had hoped, making Brazil the dumping country. The cherries started at prices around USD 27 per 5-kilo boxes for class 1, sizes Jumbo and Xl in 16 packings, FCA-Chile, with a steep decrease in weekly prices, down to USD 11 per box in WK 50.

Brazil imported nearly 30% of Chilean production this season. The main consumption period in Brazil is during Christmas, and shipping has already ended. The retail market is predicted to be flooded with cherries, and prices are expected to drop after Christmas and even more after New Year. In China, prices are expected to increase due to the lower availability.
