Chinese Garlic New Crop Commands Premium Rates in Brazil

The new crop of Chinese garlic has hit the market at significantly higher prices compared to the previous year. During W22-23, the Brazilian market witnessed offers ranging from USD 16-20 per 10kg box, CIF-Santos, for CAT1 purple variety garlic. To put this into perspective, the old crop prices were as low as USD 10 per box, CIF-Santos, until the end of March. The substantial increase in prices for the new Chinese garlic crop highlights the current market dynamics and the impact on import costs.
