Fedecacao and the Ministry of Agriculture are making efforts with different programs to renew cocoa crops and continue the good figures of the sector both in production and exports, figures that in 2021 were record, registering a production of 69,040 MT during 2021, which is 8.9% more than in 2020 when 63,416 MT were achieved. As for exports in 2021 they reached 11,310 MT of dry grain, equivalent to approximately USD 29,000,000, which represents a growth of 7.5% compared to 2020 when the figure reached 10,516 MT.
These programs are aimed at renewing 6,500 hectares by the Ministry of Agriculture and 3,000 hectares by Fedecacao. This product has an important dynamic in the country generating around 174,000 direct and indirect jobs, it is planted in 422 municipalities in 30 departments by approximately 52,000 cocoa growing families.
