Grower-exporters have challenged by a 298.8% increase in freight costs when compared to this time last year which have proven to be a major constraint on exports on what was meant to be an exceptional year for the industry. Growers have seen shipment costs increase from $4000 to $7000 per unit. This has only been further exacerbated in South Africa by port delays causing product wastage.
