In the National Capital Region, the Metro Manila Development Authority committed to supporting the initiative of the Department of Agriculture to market fresh young coconuts. The authority had to provide multi-cabs or small trucks in populated areas where the demand for coconut water is high. Coconuts are high in nutrients and possess health benefits due to which the demand in local markets is very high right now due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. Government is aiming to launch the project within one year to provide assistance to the farmers as well as the suppliers.
