High local avocado sourcing prices in Kenya are troubling exporters. This is compounded by reduced prices in the European market resulting from poor avocado quality from Kenyan suppliers and an abundant supply of good quality products from Peru. Sourcing prices for 4kg and 10kg boxes have increased by 13% in May 2022 compared to March/April 2022 following the lifting of the export ban by the government in March 2022. Exporters are reducing avocado quantities exported to cushion them from losses.
