Inspection on the fisheries sector yields more than 7 million meticais to the State.

During the first half of this year, the government's plans to carry out 475 inspection actions had initiated, conducting almost 285 of the inspection actions, covering both national and foreign vessels. Throughout these inspection actions, 7900 inspections of artisanal fishing were carried out, causing 2500 harmful gears to be seized and another 4200 even destroyed because they endangered the growth and reproduction of marine life. The inspection process is accompanied by due processes which need to be done by the violators and amounted to almost 4.15 million meticais, and another 3.16 million meticais raised from fines given to violators.
